EXCITING news from Titan Comics!

CAPTAIN JACK IS BACK!
ALL-NEW TORCHWOOD COMICS KICK-OFF WITH EXCLUSIVE JOHN BARROWMAN & CAROLE E. BARROWMAN-PENNED ADVENTURE!

DOCTOR WHO TV SPINOFF, TORCHWOOD IS BACK, IN COMICS!

Titan Comics is excited to announce that Doctor Who TV spinoff Torchwood is back, in an all-new ongoing comic series starring the daring Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper.

Written by Captain Jack himself – John Barrowman – and Carole E. Barrowman, and with issues illustrated by Antonio Fuso (Drive, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) and Pasquale Qualano (Batman ’66, She Hulk, Harley Quinn), this spectacular original ongoing series is not to be missed.

In continuity with the new hit Torchwood audio dramas from Big Finish, as part of the official continuation of the Torchwood saga, the comic arrives in stores on July 6 – the week of Titan’s third annual Doctor Who Comics Day event – Saturday, July 9 2016.

The BAFTA-winning cult science-fiction drama by Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies, which aired for four successful seasons from 2006 to 2011, follows the exploits of Captain Jack, Gwen (Eve Myles – Broadchurch), and their team as they investigate the unusual, the strange, and the extraterrestrial.

The hotly anticipated Torchwood comic sees Captain Jack return to Cardiff to engage the help of the last person who expected to see him again, Gwen Cooper! A dark technology from a forgotten species has been claimed by a conspiratorial power… and in this collision between an ancient civilization and an all-new evil, the Earth itself may be forfeit! Only Jack, Gwen, and their allies from what remains of Torchwood hold the key to stopping a cataclysmic wave of destruction… On the road, on the run, and under fire – can Jack and Gwen put aside their differences and rebuild the heart of Torchwood… before its flame is stamped out forever?!

The debut issue comes with variant covers to collect from Doctor Who superstar artists including Tommy Lee Edwards (Tenth Doctor, Turf), Elena Casagrande (Tenth Doctor, The X-Files), Blair Shedd (Ninth Doctor), and Rod Reis (Doctor Who, C.O.W.L.)!

Retailers can order Torchwood #1 from the May edition of PREVIEWS. This new series is a must for Torchwood fans, who can find their nearest comic store at ComicShopLocator.com.

Torchwood Australia – Newsletter of updates

Hello folks,

Well here is a newsletter of what is coming up for TW Australia, and some other information that may interest you.

We have just completed our Easter Comp and announced our winner, being irishangel. Thank you to those who took the time to enter and better luck next time. Irish walked away with a TARDIS keyring + an Amazon gift voucher.

We will be rehashing the forum very soon, to incorporate our new TV/Movie section of individual programme boards, like for –
Sherlock
Star Trek
Star Wars
Downton Abbey
Marvel Universe (Thor/Iron Man etc)

To name just a few; there will be 10 new boards making up this section, and we are looking forward to some lively discussion amongst our members. Please remember, we are more than just about Torchwood, more than just about Doctor Who, so we will let you know when this new section is ready for your use, and it may cover an area that has had your recent interest.

Our anniversary is only a few weeks away – this is our 7th anniversary. At this point I would like to add that I believe we are the ONLY formal long running Torchwood Forum now available online. Yes there are a number of Facebook groups and pages, but our Forum appears to be the only ‘proper’ forum left (unfortunately the biggest/longest running one, the UK TW Forum, seems to have disappeared off the web). I would add that we have more than double our Forum membership within our FB Group, and more than triple our Forum membership in Twitter followers. With that in mind, I would like to invite those who are not Forum registered members to come over and check it out

Our Forum offers MUCH more than you will ever find on a FB group or page. The resources and areas like our exclusive cast/crew interviews are truly a testament to the hard work and energy that the admin team and fellow members have put into the Forum over the last 7 years. Now that we seem to be IT in the world of online forums for Torchwood, we would REALLY like to be IT. So, if you aren’t a forum member, please consider joining up – it is free to join, and we endeavour to offer you so much, for a free forum membership. And to those of you who are members and haven’t stopped by lately, come on over. We would REALLY like to bring the Forum back to a healthy number of members, with a healthy amount of chat going on also. AND if you have any friends/family who are TW/DW fans, send them over to the forum to check us out as well.

Our anniversary celebrations always include loads of fun and stuff happening, including our competitions and prizes. We will be sending out advices about the anniversary, in the coming weeks.

We are currently running a fundraiser on the Forum too, in relation to one of John Barrowman’s charities. If you look at the most recent post (last one) on this thread, you will get all the info there –

PLEASE NOTE there is a lucky draw attached to the fundraiser re any members that donate to the fundraising page, so check out all those details – for each pound/GBP donated, you get one entry into the draw.

So, that’s about it. Hope you are all doing well in your various locales. Remember we are a worldwide forum, not just Australian based, and we welcome fellow fans to our little home.

All the best,
Ruthy.

The Woman Who Came to Dinner

As most of you are aware, we are a very mixed Forum and Website – yes we are all about Torchwood and Doctor Who, but we are about much more than that.

We are also about supporting all the actors/crew who have been involved with these shows over time, as well as other shows/movies that have grabbed our attention.

Ben Loyd-Holmes has been involved with many projects since TW Children of Earth. One of them is the upcoming movie “The Expedition” – he has introduced us to some wonderful cast members of The Expedition Movie including the lovely Angela Peters, who is now based in the UK.

Angela is involved in another upcoming project and we share this info with you below –

The Woman Who Came to Dinner is the latest feature coming out in London with our very own Australian actress Angela Peters, from Channel Seven’s series ‘Queensland’s Best Living’. Angela plays the mysterious Catherine, who arrives at a house for a two person dinner with more than a few secrets. Andrew Hillier, playing Paul, is a lonely unassuming guy who doesn’t know what’s coming. He will soon discover dinner isn’t just an entrée and main event.

The director Jamie Benyon grew the piece and concept out of impulse. Determined to make his debut feature away from typically cliché style choices, he instead took inspiration from Ben Wheatley’s Down Terrace as well as Paul Thomas Anderson, to create a two hander where the characters are introduced to a dinner surrounding immediately with the audience having no idea of their backstory. All they have are two strangers engaging in a conversation. He collaborated with his long term film partner Ben Thomas and began writing the piece in June 2013.

The small apartment has been the haven for the team working over the course of just under two weeks to bring together the story. Sound engineer, Craig Collis spoke of the challenges of creating surprise and interest when all you have is an empty room. Both the director and sound engineer had worked together on previous short films and were looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate on a bigger production.

Angela spoke of her excitement about being involved in such an intimate piece where the characters they create must engage an audience for a full seventy plus minutes. “It was so wonderful working with such a young director who knows exactly what he is looking for cinematically and story-wise. I enjoyed the challenges of playing the multi layered character”.

The Woman Who Came to Dinner is due for release this UK Autumn, 2014.

We are all looking forward to seeing Angela in this new project as well as The Expedition Movie.
