Yes 10 years since it first aired in the UK…..
Congratulations to our favourite show!
I just sent this massive email to the TA Forum members, and thought I would share all this news here on our main page as well…
That said, please remember that certain links etc can only be viewed by TA Forum members.
Well we felt we’d better give everyone a head’s up as there seems to be loads going on and coming up, especially with the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary approaching fast.
1. DW 50th Anniversary October Comps – we have opened this thread here >>>
and I will say, the prize is utterly gorge! In fact, I’d even be bold enough to say that all or most Whovians would love one of these! This is a beautiful prize so get participating in the monthly comps for your chance to win this. November comps will be extra special too, being our final month of Anniversary comps, and the prize will include merchandise from the official 50th Anniversary Convention being held in London.
2. We have two awesome episodes nominated for our Ep of the Month Club – make sure you check those out before we head into November for our Matt Smith tribute >>>
3. Irish has opened a magic writing challenge for October, dedicated to TEN!
Have a go at contributing to this month’s writing challenge. Open to all members!
4. We are HOPING to have a very Special Who Guest join us for a live Q&A prior to the 50th Anniversary – if we can get this organised, you will be the first to know about it. Stay tuned for that!
5. Our ABC network in Australia really is getting into the 50th Anniversary spirit – if you check out this thread for the latter posts, you will see the ABC media releases I have uploaded there >>>
6. Torchwood in Australia – the lovely Channel Eleven have been revisiting our beloved Torchwood – they are currently up to S2 Ep 7 Dead Man Walking, which will be shown this Monday night. Plus they have the two previous eps on their catch up video on the internet. Certainly wonderful to see Torchwood on our telly boxes!
7. Torchwood in the UK – a Torchwood Con is occurring in the UK in April 2014 – more here >>>
They had announced recently that Burn Gorman would also be there, but he has since cancelled unfortunately.
8. In baby news Eve Myles is expecting again – yay…..a sibling is on its way for Matilda. Also, John Barrowman has become a great uncle, with Clare having given birth to a bouncing baby boy.
9. TA – December – of course December wouldn’t be December without Christmas comps – these will be announced in the early part of December, plus a few Christmas activities as well. So yes folks we are pretty busy right up until the end of this year!
10. Public Interviews – not long ago we uploaded the Expedition Movie interviews, and they are a really good read – check them out here >>>
They now only have a few short hours to smash their campaign total of 5000 GBP, so if you are wanting one of their wonderful perks, check out the campaign here but be very very quick!
Finally, your fearless leader is off to the UK in November for a couple of weeks; included activities of course are the DW 50th Anniversary Con weekend in London, and viewing the 50th Anniversary episode somewhere along the line, PLUS I’ve managed to get a ticket to see David Tennant in Richard II at Stratford-Upon-Avon – very much looking forward to that.
So folks, if you haven’t visited the Forum for awhile, I suggest you come over and check it out, especially our latest comp thread and beautiful prize up for grabs.
Take care all.
Official Torchwood Miracle Day press release has been uploaded onto the Torchwood Australia Forum…..
Premiere air date in Australia has been announced as Saturday 9 July at 8.30pm on UKTV.
Click on this link for more info >>>
Just a bit of general info to remind everyone of all things Torchwood, that is happening over the next week.
Firstly, we are up to our last night of the radio plays on BBC Radio4, which you can listen to via the internet – tonight’s radio play will be aired at 11.15pm AEST.
Here is the Radio4 link http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/ and also a link to where you can download the radio plays for a limited time http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/torchwood/download/
Secondly, Children of Earth is starting in the UK on Monday night 6 July…..and as some of you are already aware, UKTV in Australia will air the 5 eps over consecutive nights, starting at 8.30pm on Tuesday 7 July. This is fantastic for Australians, compared to the US who will not be airing the season until later in the month. Good job UKTV!
Thirdly, we have a very comprehensive Children of Earth section on the Torchwood Australia Forum – Noo, who is one of our Sub Admins, has put a lot of time and effort into that section, and it is a fantastic source for “all things CoE”, so come on over and check it out http://torchwoodaustralia.com/forum/YaBB.pl?catselect=season3
Lastly, we’ve had quite an influx of new members to Torchwood Australia and warmly welcome everyone. If you haven’t visited our Forum before, please feel free to join us over there…..we don’t bite, I promise! http://torchwoodaustralia.com/forum/YaBB.pl
We seem to be getting a lot of new members wanting to come on board due to CoE coming up, but I have also noticed we have some new Torchwood converts since ABC2 started airing season one – that is just fabulous for the Fandom.
I would like to add here, that we have declared July as Children of Earth Month on our Forum, so come on over and join in the fun.
I hope you all have a super Torchwoody month – ENJOY!
Just a few things to mention to bring you “up to speed”.
Firstly, the rumours that are going around about Children of Earth UK airing date, seem to indicate that it may occur week commencing 15th June – nothing confirmed at this stage though…..UKTV in Australia will be airing the 5 episodes I believe the same day or thereabouts as per the UK airing dates. Please keep an eye on the forum for more details as they come to hand. There will be announcements made over there regarding when COE will air etc.
Secondly, we welcome Noo as our newest Sub Admin on the Forum – fabulous to have you join the moderating team Noo.
Thirdly, our 2nd Anniversary is fast approaching. Please stay up to date with news of that weekend on the forum. Lots of activities/comps/prizes are planned. The relevant weekend is 20th/21st June 2009.
And lastly, EvilRuthy is off for her big trip with Cally73 to the UK on 12th May; I will be away until 15th June, and will be online occasionally whilst I’m away, probably once a week. The Forum moderation will be capably looked after by Clarrisani and Noo; please contact them if you need assistance with anything during my absence. The website itself won’t be updated during my absence.
Hope you are having a great weekend all.
Well here it is guys…..finally…..
More than a wee bit excited right now – this looks SO awesome!
Ok, it isn’t great news……..
According to some of the upcoming tv guides, it looks like Torchwood’s airing time on the 1st Sept has been pushed back until 11.35pm.
Now I’m not going to keep updating this information piece-meal, as it may keep changing (????).
So, I do promise that if the 11.35pm timeslot changes or the date changes, there will be a post here at least 24 hours before it happens.
Let’s just hope it isn’t a repeat of our Season 1 scheduling woes.
If you want to be heard about your thoughts on the matter, I suggest you go across to the Ten forums and make your feelings known. The more people who do it, the more likely TEN are going to take some notice.
I think we should all just take a deep breath, and hope for the best that Ten see some sense re the TW timeslots.
Yes the big announcement has been made by TEN.
Season Two of Torchwood commences on TEN HD on Monday 1st Sept at 10.30pm, with ep 1 “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang”.
As we are all aware, not everyone in Australia has access to HD unfortunately. So it is just as well that the Season Two dvd release (region 4) is due out in early October.
As you can see below, we have previously posted our episode blurbs, and rating links, due to the season already having been aired in the UK. So if you haven’t viewed Season Two before, once viewed, you can go across to the forum and rate the episode, and post your comments about the ep.
Anyways, good news on the Torchwood front and YAY for TEN.
Oh and btw, Torchwood Season 3 (which unfortunately is only going to be the 5 eps we’ve all heard about) is being filmed from today. So lots of excitement over in Wales at present (wish I was there).
